One
mile down on County Road 479 off of Hwy 94 near Mokane
On Sunday afternoon, April 20th, a reserve
deputy of Callaway County Sheriff Dept., stumbled across a shallow grave
containing the remains of a unknown female. The entire staff of Missouri
Missing became apprehensive, yet hopeful, that our beloved Jasmine Haslag
had finally been located and we could all have closure and finally give
rest to Jasmine. Our Jane Doe was found just five miles from where Jasmine's
vehicle was located when she disappeared last June, 2007. The female
victim was found in a shallow grave just yards away from the boat ramp
at the Mokane Access. Police stated that the killer dumped her body
in the shallow grave and covered it up with debris from the recent flood
so they know it happened after last spring. Police had just searched
the area the week before based on a tip recieved about Jasmine. No other
evidence was found, so it was solely up to the medical examiner to determine
who Jane Doe is. We were notified that Jane Doe was not Jasmine as initally
suspected, this based on fingerprints not being a match.
Our
Jane Doe is someone's daughter, sister, possibly mother, and she has
still yet to be identified. Missouri Missing staff became immersed in
the emotions of this event, and 'Miss Callaway County Jane Doe' is important
to us. We have hence 'adopted' this yet to be identified female victim
and will be honoring her in death just as we would have Jasmine, as
she is one of our own...one of our beloved 'missing unidentified persons'.
Missouri
Missing invites the public to join us in a memorial service for 'Miss
Callaway County Jane Doe'. The service will be held Thursday, April
24th, 2008 at nine a.m. The service will be held one mile down on County
Road 479 off of Hwy 94 near Mokane.
